About Mel Beaton

Providing solid and practical legal advice to real estate development, technology and other businesses is my primary goal. I enjoy the challenge of providing trusted advice to solve legal problems. I also have a background in business (academically and in the real world by running a small engineering firm before entering the legal profession and ultimately managing our growing law firm) This really helps me understand what is important to my clients. I'm a contributing author to the British Columbia Strata Property Practice Manual which is a leading publication in the field published by the BC Continuing Legal Education Society I've also presented and written other papers for the profession on topics such as "Subdivision and Strata Title Registration" and "E-mail in the workplace". On personal side I enjoy traveling, staying active, keeping up with my family and friends, and pushing my boundaries through skiing, scuba diving, golf and attempting kite boarding Specialties: real estate development, corporate re-organizations, business sales and purchases, financing, business succession, software licensing and computer technology law
