About Mel Cooke

I: Am retired! In the past I: Facilitated the work of District and inter-building groups related to the Edmonds School District's Instructional Technology Levy. Collaborated with district leaders and teachers to integrate technology standards in Curriculum Frameworks and professional development opportunities. Worked with principals, teachers and leadership teams to design plans that ensured successful implementation of technology equipment/devices/learning; with an emphasis of working with secondary schools, both staff and students. Acquired and disseminated current research and best practices for integrating technology into the classroom. Provided information and advice to buildings and programs making decisions about their technology needs and use. Worked directly with staff and students to integrate technology into the curriculum on an extended schedule that involved activities outside of regular school hours. On a personal level I live in Kirkland with my son Ian who is now 25 years old. I have a daughter Kim, who is grown and married with two children of her own. In the winter I go to the mountains as often as possible and love sliding down mountains dabble with digital photography. During summer I love to hang out at the beach, float the river, kayak puget sound, cycle, fly kites and play frisbee. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention I am the secretary of Methow At Home, a non-profit whose mission is to support our members who want to age in place. Google it, it is a wonderful organization to get behind and be a part of. But wait, there's more. I am an alpine ski instructor for the Loup Loup Ski Education Foundation.
