I am a lover of sport and a firm believer in the power of sport to create positive change. I am the author of two books: Home Game; A Ball Can Change The World, which I wrote with Peter Barr and Social Entrepreneurship: A Better Way of Thinking About a Sustainable Future, which I wrote with Alexandra Matthews. Having initially worked as a journalist, including on a community newspaper in Wester Hailes in Edinburgh, I co-founded The Big Issue in Scotland in 1993. I also co-founded Senscot (Social Entrepreneurs Network Scotland), the City Lynx magazine and the New Consumer magazine. I am the former President and Honorary President of INSP (International Network for Street Papers). I have five Honorary Degrees from Scottish Universities. I have received several awards, including an MBE and the prestigious Jackie Robinson Humanitarian Award. I am a lifelong supporter of Hibernian FC.
