About Melanie Buddle

I am an administrator (Principal, Peter Gzowski College) at Trent University and adjunct faculty member of the History department at Trent University. I have worked at Trent since 2003, in various roles - course instructor, academic advisor, College Head, and College Principal. Having worked in post-secondary institutions (UNBC, University of Victoria, Trent University) for my entire career, I am passionate about higher education, academic leadership, student development, learning and teaching. I work with colleagues in post-secondary education to think strategically about co-curricular education, transitions, the value of learning, and how to think and learn in an interdisciplinary way to support students' long-term happiness and career satisfaction. With a background in gender, business, and North American history, I teach interdisciplinary humanities and History courses. I support students’ holistic well-being and their academic and social engagement, while providing co-curricular programming and experiential learning opportunities to support student success. Beyond Trent, I am a Board Member with ReFrame Film Festival, in Peterborough, Ontario.
