About Melanie Conrad

Our lab investigates how environmental factors, such as antibiotic exposure and mental health adversity during pregnancy and infancy, affect immune system development and susceptibility to allergic asthma in the offspring. I have a PhD in Immunology from the University of Victoria, Canada and over 20 years of experience in conducting and publishing cutting-edge research in the fields of allergy, immunology, and reproductive medicine. Additionally, as president of the new European DOHaD Society I would like to promote our mandate to improve research networks in the field of the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease, support early career researchers and to improve science outreach and discourse with the public. Finally, besides my research activities, I also share my knowledge and skills with the scientific community by teaching 1-2 day workshops on Scientific Writing and Presentation throughout Europe. I have been a trainer for 12 years, helping thousands of researchers improve their communication and dissemination of their scientific findings. I am passionate about advancing science and fostering collaboration and innovation.
