About Melanie Formentin

Skills: I am a values- and solutions-oriented strategic communicator and researcher who brought years of industry experience to the classroom. My doctorate and career in higher education prepared me for jobs that are fast-paced, require strong time and project management, emphasize juggling multiple responsibilities, and call for flexibility and creative problem solving. I am a skilled quantitative (surveys, experiments) and qualitative (interviews, focus groups) researcher. As a lifelong learner, I always seek opportunities to gain new skills and perspectives, and I'm particularly interested in DEI, leadership, and ethics in corporate communication. About Me: I earned my Ph.D. in Mass Communications at Penn State University (2014) and am a proud University of South Florida Bull (bachelor's, 2006; master’s, 2010). My academic background in relationship building, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and care ethics was driven by my interest in privileging audience perspectives to build relationships and measure organizational success. In my new career as a senior analyst, I aim to contribute to my team's strong relationships by offering strategic, data-driven solutions to internal partners. Finally, when I'm not at work, I enjoy walking my dog Luna and running away to Walt Disney World (my other home) for the day.
