Background
About Melanie Mitchell
I have been involved in education in one facet or another since I graduated from high school. This passion resulted in a widely-varied background in education to include teaching overseas and in the USA from Pre-K to college courses, organizational administration, serving on executive boards, and educational consulting. My drive has always been to help others succeed. I hope to inspire confidence in individuals to take the steps necessary to better their lives. Teaching people “they CAN” and that putting in the hard work necessary with proper support and available resources with which to learn will give them the preparedness they need to succeed in STEM courses and will help build their self confidence and put them well on their way toward the path to success. It makes all the difference when someone is inspired to DESIRE to learn which then sparks the FIRE of CURIOSITY, CREATIVITY and INNOVATION. Sometimes it is purely a matter of exposure opportunity and encouragement. I enjoy being a team member of organizations and playing a part in their finding success by using proven methodologies that are practical as well as fresh and innovative ideas. Along with my career in education, I have a strong background as a licensed Real Estate Broker which has taught me a great deal including the essential importance of networking, managing complex contracts, being organized and on top of managing the many moving parts and pieces related to such with multiple contracts simultaneously, critical deadlines, real estate law and representation of clients’ best interests. Being able to quickly pivot and find solutions to unforeseen issues with a moment’s notice is a skill which must be mastered in addition to learning skills such as deescalation of conflict and working through issues by actively listening to and hearing out all sides, considering all aspects of a problem, and while being honest, ethical, and fair through oftentimes fierce negotiations, finding a reasonable and creative solution that is acceptable to everyone and as fair as possible while representing my client’s best interests first and foremost. My diverse experience includes, but is not limited to: public speaking, education, administration, non-profit management, training and educational solutions, and development of programs and projects on a wide variety of business topics for both current and new clients both in the United States and abroad, mostly south of the equator in Africa.
