About Melinda Furrer

With more than 16 years of nursing experience, I am a passionate and dedicated leader in the field of radiology nursing. As the Nurse Manager for Radiology at the University of Washington, Montlake and NW Campus, I oversee the daily operations and clinical quality of the radiology department, ensuring patient safety, staff satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. I also hold a Certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) credential, which demonstrates my competence and commitment to excellence in nursing leadership. In addition, I have a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership from the University of San Francisco, which has enhanced my skills and knowledge in strategic planning, organizational change, and health care innovation. I have also been a Registered Nurse at Swedish Medical Center for 16 years, where I have held various roles, such as Professional Development Specialist, Clinical Nurse Manager, and Clinical Nurse Educator. In these roles, I have contributed to the improvement of clinical education, patient outcomes, and staff development. I have also taught nursing courses at Seattle University, sharing my expertise and passion for medical-surgical nursing. My mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients and families, and to empower and support the radiology nursing team to achieve excellence and innovation in their practice. I am proud to be part of the UW Radiology team, where I can bring my diverse perspectives and experiences to enhance the delivery of care and the advancement of nursing.
