Melissa is a non-Indigenous nurse lecturer, researcher & PhD candidate working collaboratively with Aboriginal community members, health and research professionals to improve health care experiences and outcomes for First Nation's Australians. Melissa has worked in the University of Adelaide nursing school since January 2016 and prior to this worked at City University, London as Senior Lecturer and Program Director for Undergraduate Pre-Registration Adult Nursing. Melissa was the Editor in Chief of the Renal Society of Australasia Journal (2016-2020) and is now the Deputy Editor and is completing a PhD "The emergence and translation of cultural safety education into renal nursing care in South Australia" Melissa's main research interest is in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health care and kidney disease
