Melissa Bell writes new works for the stage that explore women’s agency and actions as they navigate their power and repression. Nominated for Best Adaptation and Modernizations by NY Shakespeare in 2020 & 2021, LADY CAPULET, a Henley Rose Finalist, was produced in Central Park by Barefoot Shakespeare Company, and has been performed live & virtually at The Bedford Playhouse, Farm Arts Collective, The Little Shakespeare Festival, CreateTheater, Norwalk CT Library, Advice to the Players (NH), and Turn To Flesh Productions. Featured in "Best Men's Stage Monologues 2020." ZOE COMES HOME had capacity runs at Tusten Theatre and Bernie Wohl Theatre. Member of Farm Arts Collective, whose series of eco plays was featured in the New York Times Arts, Aug 14, 2021. The immersive show COURAGE, produced by NACL Theatre (Honored Finalist, Women in the Arts & Media Collaboration Award 2019) was performed on Governor's Island and in the Catskills. Off-Broadway: DEVIL AND THE DEEP, with music by Graham Russell of Air Supply, produced by Theatre East. LOVE, SEX, ANARCHY was awarded a 2016 Puffin Grant and a JDTLab at Guild Hall. LOST IN LOVE, the Air Supply Musical, a benefit for The Actors Fund, produced at the Triad Theatre, featured Constantine Maroulis, Andrea McArdle, Graham Russell (Air Supply), who also wrote the score. ICEBOX PLACENTA published in "Best Monologues for Women 2019," and SHORT PLAYS ON REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM on Amazon Kindle, and in W42ST Magazine. Readings of work presented at Snapple Theatre, TheatreLab, Bechdel Group, Bernie Wohl Theatre, and in Washington DC at The Corner Arts Center and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
