About Melissa Brady

Intern Architect at Architecture49 on the CENTRUS team. Previously I completed my Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architectural Studies in the Conservation and Sustainability Stream at Carleton University. Additionally, in my undergraduate degree I completed an 20 month co-op placement with the Heritage Conservation Services of Public Services and Procurement Canada. My passion for heritage conservation and sustainability stems from my academic background and achievements. My Master's thesis focused on the socially sustainable adaptive reuse of the Waterworks Buildings for which I received two awards; the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) Student Achievement Award and the Heritage Ottawa Design Initiative (HODI) Built Heritage Award. I also served as a teaching assistant for three semesters at Carleton University, helping to teach conservation philosophy and ethics and conservation studio courses. Through my work I have developed strong skills in writing, research, communication, and collaboration, as well as proficiency in various design and visualization tools, such as Enscape, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, Rhino, and Revit. I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies, and to apply them to innovative and meaningful projects. I am committed to preserving and enhancing the cultural and environmental value of heritage buildings, and to creating sustainable and inclusive design solutions for the present and future generations.
