About Melissa E. Lopez

Thoughtful, ambitious and experienced marketer with a demonstrated history in Project Management, strategy, content creation and overall storytelling. While in college, I excitedly signed up for a Journalism class, which ended up carving the path that established my intrigue for writing, which I always knew I had, just never to a big degree. As most of the class was framed around creating a blog and writing submissions, that ended up being the outlet I needed to tell stories, something I have always been fascinated with and led to my admiration for marketing and advertising. During this time, my career began in the retail and fashion industry building a strong foundation in customer service and a toolbox of transferable skills that I continued to apply everything I was learning. After college, I got my big break in the Marketing World. It was your classic entry-level gig, but I was just happy to be full emersed in it. Only 2 months in, I became an Account Manager in the FinTech Industry where I was able to put my degree to use as well as develop additional skills like training and onboarding new employees, email campaigns, managing a team and continuing customer service skills. After 2 years of working in the Marketing Department and having a very process oriented mind, I noticed there was a gap that I could fill, so I pitched a Project Manager role and got the gig! Now there is an entire PM Team with over 20+ PMs creating opportunity for others to grow at the company.(One of my proudest work achievements to date!) It wasn’t until switching over to a joint venture company as a Marketing Manager that I had the pleasure of true storytelling as my role transitioned from consumer-facing to agent-facing audiences. I was able to be creative by creating new campaigns, implementing strategy and working closely with Design on every project. As I continue to climb the glorious and ever-changing corporate ladder, most recently as Director of Marketing, I truly appreciate every moment where I can a storyteller and marketer. As long as I’m always learning something new and evolving both professionally and personally, I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me. During my free time you can catch me with my head stuck in a book (I love stories! What can I say?), streaming the latest show, rewatching The Hobbit for the millionth time, or spending time with my dog.
