Background
About Melissa Fields
To Whom It May Concern, My interest in teaching began in 2010 when I was first employed by Linden Unified School District for the After School Program. During the time that I was working in the After School Program, I also took a second position as an instructional aide. Seven years after I started the After School Program, I decided to go back to college and begin to pursue a career in teaching. In 2018, I began a full-time position as a paraprofessional and have since been working hard at gaining experience and learning about what it’s like to see and work with students in a day time school setting. As a paraprofessional, I have been put into the position as a literacy interventionist and have been working in small groups with students in grades 2nd through 5th helping them gain confidence and knowledge in literacy. I want to continue to learn and grow in my ability to teach while giving students the support and care that they deserve while at school. I have had numerous experiences with students of all ages while working on my credential. I have submerged myself into teaching by taking every opportunity to teach that is given to me. During the 2020-2021 school year, I had the opportunity to teach a kindergarten distance learning class alongside the kindergarten teachers. During this time, I have gained valuable experience and knowledge while working with the students. In August 2021, I began teaching 1st Grade at Tully C. Knoles in the Lincoln Unified School District under a Preliminary credential while taking classes at Teacher’s College of San Joaquin. I am driven to gain more experience working with different age groups and in different capacities, so that I am able to solidify my career in education with great knowledge. Sincerely, Melissa Fields
