About Melissa Grego

CEO of Hollywood Radio & Television Society (HRTS) since my 2017 appointment, becoming the first female executive to run the org. HRTS, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022, is the longtime leading networking, education and mentorship organization for the TV and entertainment community. Upon HRTS’s 75th in 2022, launched and serve as Chairperson/Board Director of the new standalone charitable organization, The HRTS Foundation, which is dedicated to a diverse, equitable, inclusive industry. Also launched an annual Gala to benefit the new 501(c)(3); and the HRTS Fellowship to help further the careers of 15 HRTS Fellows from underrepresented backgrounds annually. The launch of the HRTS Foundation represented the opportunity to develop further expertise in non-profit leadership and operations after heading HRTS, a 501(c)(6), for five years. Prior to joining HRTS, parlayed knowledge gained as a longtime journalist covering the TV business to launch consulting practice Melinc, with a mission to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in media and entertainment. At Melinc, specialized in executive producing and launching conferences and events; content development, creation, editing and strategy. Editorial roles & highlights: First female Editor-in-Chief of Broadcasting & Cable magazine and leadership or reporting roles at The Hollywood Reporter, Variety and TelevisionWeek. Personal essays published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Shondaland, Purple Clover, Backstage, others. Public speaking: Provided expert commentary about television business on "Access Hollywood," CNBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, Fox News and "Entertainment Tonight," among others; former special correspondent for the TV show “Extra”; lectured at UCLA, USC and frequent moderator of panels and Q & As with TV and media industry figures around the world.
