About Melissa Harris

I am a passionate, dynamic, and forward-thinking creative with over 12 years of experience spanning : Non-profit program management Art education Trauma informed teaching, Curriculum planning and development, Fundraising, Event coordination, Human Resources- including training and coordination, Benefits administration, Database management and general operations. Most recently I have taught in a classical charter school setting expanding my teaching experience to middle school and high school students. The curriculum is heavily based in art history, artists and known works, techniques in a variety of mediums, skill building and production. I have also taught four years of Elementary Art to inner-city students of Baltimore City and Atlanta Public Schools. I enjoy teaching art as a vehicle for change and discovery. Before teaching I worked professionally with non-profit organizations who service the community. Servicing the community is a passion of mine, and I'm proud to be associated with companies who give back. I have a variety of experience in administrative, development, and customer centered work. I have also owned my own business. I owned and operated an art studio in Rome, Georgia, and learned very valuable research and business skills. I integrated my art studio into the community through already established youth, school, and family advocacy programs offered in my community.
