Background
About Melissa Hed
I've had many jobs and careers in this lifetime — attorney, retreat director, office manager, energy healer, volunteer coordinator, writer, caregiver, the list goes on. At every turn, my professional and personal focus has always been on inspiring people to expand their idea of what's possible by providing reflective insight, practical advice, and personalized support. My editorial service for individuals includes constructive feedback on story structure, character development, voice, readability, language, and pacing. What really sets me apart from other people is my ability to help people express themselves openly and work through creative blocks. I help organizations and companies do this, as well, by helping them clarify their mission statements and communicate more authentically by aligning their messaging and their stories with their own guiding principles. Event planning is another way to impart an ethos. I prefer to communicate not only a vision but a "feeling" goal to vendors, volunteers, and participants. I find this method helps to create a safe, immersive, and transformative experience for everybody. With my cooperative approach, people feel valued, we work together effectively, and we're flexible enough to course-correct if necessary. Six times, I've recruited, organized, and motivated hundreds of volunteers for two different organizations, doubling the size of previous volunteer pools and thereby allowing events to expand in size and scope. How did I do it? Thoughtful anticipation of the organization's needs, effective follow-through on all details, and tactful handling of sensitive situations helped ensure the events ran smoothly. But I think the major factor in recruiting people and helping them stay enthusiastic was that I dialed in on what was important to the volunteers, and I used it to motivate them to act in positive and deeply satisfying ways.(If you're searching for someone to support your work so you can shine, please reach out to me. I’m keen to help you manifest your dreams. Let's work together!)
