About Melissa Howe

Hello! I worked independently from a home-based office for over a decade as a medical transcriptionist/editor while raising my daughter. As she got older, I got back "out there" and have been utilizing my BS Psychology degree as a mental health therapist in local psychiatric hospitals. I provide trauma-informed direct patient care to adults in the midst of a mental health crisis. I have nine years of providing acute care experience as well as five years providing longer-term care at Oregon State Hospital. I moved back East for a stint in 2012 to help out a family member on the East Coast. That afforded me experience as a Crisis Intervention Specialist in the ED of St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown, PA and Bethlehem, PA. In that role I assisted psychiatrists in the decision to admit or discharge patients and also performed utilization review. I also have four years prison ministry volunteer experience at Larch Mountain Correctional Facility in Yacolt, WA as well as several months experience as a Case Manager Aide at Columbia River Mental Health Associates in Vancouver, WA. I am currently seeking out either part-time or full-time employment that allows me to work remotely. My significant other passed away suddenly at a young age last winter, and I'm trying to be able to be home as much as possible for our dogs as I navigate through the grieving process. I can type very fast and am open to anything health-related that allows me to work from home. I'm open to all different sorts of possibilities.
