About Melissa Hutton

Learning a passion for fashion and creation at the age of five has propelled me to managing a team of 3D designers for a major corporation. I started my college education with a degree in Technical Theatre - Costume Design and Stage Management. After starting a family, I focused more on the fashion aspect of garment design and creation. The Consumer Apparel and Retail Studies - Consumer Apparel Design major were interesting and eye opening to the fashion industry. My internship with what was then VF corporation, I learned 3D garment software Browzwear. After some freelance work, I found a position on an experimental 3D Fashion Design team with Global Brands Group. The pilot 3D team turned into a Corporate 3D team under Business Solutions and Training. When Centric Brands took over Global Brands Group, the company wide education and implementation of 3D became a major focus for the company. We focused on building a team and implementing the use of 3D throughout the company. With the pandemic, the position of Manager for the team was passed to me. Our team became the Corporate Center of Excellence for Centric Brands. The team was setup for completely remote working since all communications had previously via the computer while sitting in the office. I was the only consistent party on the team for the five and a half years the team was active building the program from the ground up. I enjoyed the management of the dynamic personalities on the team and the interesting projects created.
