About Melissa Jackson

An energetic and compassionate advocate for Veterans and their families, I am dedicated to connecting them with programs and supports that promote independence, dignity, and quality of life. My work focuses on ensuring Veterans can live in the least restrictive environment while honoring their personal choices and goals. With deep roots in military life—as a former Navy wife, Marine mom, and daughter of a disabled Vietnam Veteran—I bring firsthand knowledge of the VA benefits and healthcare systems. This lived experience fuels my commitment to improving Veteran care and navigating complex systems on their behalf. I have proudly served in various roles with the National Association of State Veterans Homes, acting as a liaison to the VA and providing testimony to the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health. My community involvement includes active participation in organizations such as the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and prior service on the Bennington Rescue Squad Board. Giving back to my community is not just a value—it’s a way of life.
