About Melissa Leach

I am a highly motivated and focused individual that takes pride in my work. I have a three-year Business Administration – Accounting Diploma from St. Lawrence College and I have eight years of experience working in a professional office with a variety of customers. As of September 2019, I am taking courses part-time at St. Lawrence College and expect to earn my Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Laurentian University in the Spring of 2022. I currently hold a full-time Financial Assistant(FA) position at Queen's University in the Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science. I'm my role I perform a variety of finance related tasks, including, but not limited to, reconciling the Visa's, processing invoices, calculating and allocating research overhead revenue, running financial reports and processing journal entries. Also, a large part of my position is to help train and support our five engineering departments when new systems and/or policies are implemented, or when their FA is away or the position is in transition. I act as a point of contact to other financial staff within FEAS to answer questions and provide guidance on established financial procedures. Customer Service is a large part of my job because I interact with a variety of different customers. Whether I'm dealing with the Dean of Engineering, an uncooperative supplier, or a parent of a stressed student, I provide the same positive attitude with the highest professionalism. I treat everyone equally and with respect.
