About Melissa Lou

Melissa is a Product/ Project Lead at BCG X. As part of Boston Consulting Group, BCG X invents, builds, scales and invests in startups with the globally established companies. Melissa works with multidisciplinary teams and wears multiple hats in the innovation and venture building journey across concept and business model development, economic and financial viability, go-to-market, operations, commercialisation and fundraising. Since 2015, Melissa has also been the Co-Founder of Delegate, a technology-first turnkey solution for the events industry. The company aims to power the events industry with the latest in offline, virtual and hybrid events through our 3 business units - Delegate, Delegate PRO and Delegate PLAY. They are format-agnostic, with their mission being only to deliver events with high engagement and big impact. Founded in 2015, Melissa first started the company together with her Co-Founder Jacqueline after realising the market gap and inefficiencies of the events industry in Asia. Delegate has since evolved to become an end-to-end turnkey solution for the events industry with an all-in-one marketplace that uses proprietary technology to recommend and connect engaged couples to the best wedding vendors across the region. Delegate also services the largest supplier network of over event vendors with Delegate PRO, their client management SaaS tool for event businesses. In 2020, Delegate debuted the Virtual Wedding Festival on Delegate PLAY, a celebration of the convergence of engaged couples, wedding businesses and influencers in a safe, online environment. The company raised a pre-Series A of USD $1 million round at the start of 2019. To date, Delegate has built a community of over event planning users, event businesses and has been featured in media such as TechCrunch, Channel NewsAsia, The Straits Times, INC, amongst many others. Prior to her foray into entrepreneurship, Melissa was a hospitality professional for almost a decade. She graduated from Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, one of the leading hospitality schools in the world, and served as a committee member for the Asia alumni network (2012 - 2016). Melissa is an active member of the startup ecosystem and her previous speaking experiences include ITB Asia, e27 Echelon, SLUSH Singapore, TERN Conference, Lombard Odier's Pioneers Forum and has moderated multiple panels for the tech and hospitality industries. Melissa is happy to connect with like-minded professionals in the hospitality & startup industries.
