Melissa is a highly skilled Architectural Draftsperson with years of experience working on residential and commercial construction projects. Experience in project management and architectural design. Skilled in AutoCAD (Computer Aided Design) Program, Revit (Building Information Modeling) Program and Knowledgeable in construction principles, accessible built environment, sustainable building design and construction and the use of local and national building codes, regulations and related standards. Melissa has experience working and collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and other construction specialists. Melissa holds the Architectural Drafting Diploma (June 2012) from the Nova Scotia Community College and Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC) Professional designation (August 2018). Melissa is currently working as Facilities Support Technician for the Nova Scotia Community College and her responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date floor plans for all nscc campuses and sites, regularly reviewing construction drawing sets to ensure compliance with accessibility codes and best practices; site visits to assess buildings and aim to achieve Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC). Her vision is to remove physical and invisible barriers within the built environment in order to provide inclusion within our communities and achieve living in an equitable world where everyone has equal opportunity to fully participate in society.
