About Melissa Potter

Individuals who enter the field of education are often driven to help others and enrich the lives of those they work with. I find this to be true in myself, and especially in collaborating in teams to support families and students with complex communication needs. In my clinical fellowship with Liberty-POST I serve students birth-five in my community, work with 4 different school districts, and have adapted virtual and in-person services through this complicated and ever-changing pandemic. Additionally, I connected my company to a middle school that needed extra support for a student with significant needs; in providing services for this student and participating in his triennial revaluation, I have worked with his team to increase his skills, independence, and quality of life through his high-tech AAC device. Prior to my position with Liberty-POST I graduated with my M.S. after completing two full-time externships and a breadth of other clinical experiences in a long-term care facility, a hospital, an equine-therapy barn, an ENT clinic and more. In all settings I was focused on researching effective interventions and planning fun sessions to best achieve my students’ and families’ goals.
