Melissa Sundermann, DO, FACOI, DipABLM, FACLM Lifestyle Medicine Physician | Medical Director | Global Wellness Leader | Founder of Doctor Outdoors I am a double board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine with over 25 years of clinical experience. I currently serve as the Medical Director of Lifestyle Medicine for Corewell Health, where I lead strategic initiatives to integrate the pillars of Lifestyle Medicine into healthcare systems, with a strong focus on prevention, longevity, and whole-person care. As the founder of Doctor Outdoors, I combine clinical expertise with a deep passion for nature to help individuals, communities, and organizations reconnect with the powerful link between human health and the natural world. I also serve as Chair of the Global Wellness Institute’s Lifestyle Medicine Initiative and Founding Chair of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s Nature as Medicine Subcommittee. My current work includes the development of Destination Doctor Outdoors—a visionary, multi-platform project that includes a docuseries, book, and podcast. This initiative explores the intersection of nature, health, and human potential through global storytelling, science-based insights, and transformative experiences. In addition to my professional work, I am a lifelong endurance athlete and advocate for movement as medicine. I am a 12-time Boston Marathon finisher and a 3-time Full Ironman Triathlon finisher, which reflects my belief that vitality is achievable at every stage of life.
