About Melissa Young

During my undergraduate studies, I completed a BA in psychology and also minored in sociology at Elmhurst University. I graduated cum laude with a perfect GPA of 4.0, all while taking honors courses and maintaining a part time position at work. My educational background has allowed me to gain many skills - such as problem solving and critical thinking - which has prepared me to pursue higher education. I currently am pursuing a Master’s degree in clinical mental health at Adler University in Chicago, and am specializing in Addictions counseling. At this university, I am gaining a more in depth analysis of disorders that are present in our society, understanding how to better treat individuals that are seeking assistance, perfecting my understanding of case conceptualization, and learning ways in which I can be a competent multicultural counselor.
