About Melody Atkinson Pahlow

I am a dedicated wife and mother of four fantastic children. In the organized chaos of being a young mom, a Rwandan refugee introduced himself to me in a public library and it changed the trajectory of my life. I have always had a heart for others in great need so I seized upon the opportunity to pair my dedication to others with my leadership, administrative and speaking gifts while building a grass-roots nonprofit organization focused on creating self-sustainability for widows and orphans affected by AIDS and war. To date I have helped over 700 families. It’s amazing what one mom on a mission can do! I primarily live in a fast growing area in North Texas. I enjoy pairing my international Chief Operations Management experience with a similar devotion to developing leaders in my area because I believe that the world can be changed through people wholly connected to their passions. I enjoy working with a variety of people and personalities and being a catalyst for working better together. I love experiencing the satisfaction of measured progress and growth. I work best in being challenged by new endeavors and perceiving what the next best step is in unfamiliar territory. Currently, under my management, 90% of the families in our African Family Sponsorship Program are living successful, self sustaining lives within 17-36 months. My life has had a lot of unexpected twists and turns. It is colorful and unique and I wouldn’t change any of it. I have become more and more flexible and creative as I have learned to adjust to each challenge that comes my way. I trust the journey and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
