About Melody Parker

I am a recent Yale University graduate (Class of 2023) with a double major in Economics and Ethnicity, Race, and Migration (ER & M). My studies in ER & M focused on socio-cultural inequities in the U.S, specifically how historical processes reproduce contemporary urban inequalities that disproportionally affect people of color and their communities. Beyond the required courses in Economics, I elected to take economic history and public policy courses in health and education. I am currently working as a Truth & Reconciliation Guaranteed Income Program Project Manager at the ACLU of Louisiana. As a Project Manager of this guaranteed income program, I will be working closely with individuals from Jefferson and Caddo Parishes who have experienced unconstitutional and racist policing, with the goal of empowering participants with physical, emotional, and economic security while advocating for the dismantling of the prison industrial complex. Through my work at the ACLU of Louisiana, I actively contribute to efforts aimed at advancing equitable solutions and promoting positive change in our society. I am excited to continue my journey of effecting change and promoting social justice.
