About Melony Stambaugh

As a Cultural Anthropologist, I teach Anthropology courses, work with students who have disabilities to help prepare for future adulting, and continue to conduct independent research projects. Currently, I am the Program Coordinator for the Kentucky Academy of Science and Director for the Kentucky Junior Academy of Science. Current research project: Anthropology of Hockey Previous research projects include: Study of non-profit organizations from the perspective of social network analysis in order to find connections between them through the sharing of board members and key people within the organization. Feasibility study of the use of an on-line chat program for a textbook company. The analysis includes monthly, daily, and hourly data broken down by the type of chat received and the business segment that initiated the chat. This work included customer insights as well as inputs from the various departments impacted through the program. Study of Facebook looking at the concepts of safety, security, and community from the perspective of the information that is made public by the users. Analysis of how non-profit organizations complete the publicly available documents required by the IRS looking at accountability and transparency. Specialties: Social Network Analysis, Kinship, Poverty, Native American studies, Celtic studies, qualitative and quantitative research, gender in sports research, management, training, interviewing, hiring, and scheduling.
