I have extensive experience in Canadian and US immigration. In addition, I have over 2 years of general litigation experience with an emphasis on foreclosures, debt collections, and contractual disputes. As an immigration lawyer, I handle complex immigration matters for corporate clients from various industries, including engineering, hospitality, and information technology with a focus on NAFTA and Intra-company transfers. My Canadian immigration experience includes Intra-company Transfer (NAFTA and GATS) work permits; NAFTA Professional (T23) work permits; Significant Benefit (C10) work permits; Reciprocal Employment (C20) work permits; Francophone Mobility (C16) work permits; charitable or religious (C50) work permits; Business Visitor applications; Temporary Resident Visas (TRV); Temporary Resident Permits (TRP); Criminal Rehabilitation applications; Study Permits applications and Applications for Permanent Residence. My American immigration experience includes NAFTA TN Professional applications; and H-1B. In my current position, I assist corporate clients of every size, from multinational companies with well-established affiliates all over the world to partnerships, sole proprietors, and individual professionals with immigration needs, including work permits and permanent residence applications. In my general litigation practice, I represent debtors and lenders in foreclosure matters; draft pleadings and negotiate settlements and forbearance agreements with lenders. In my previous positions, I provided guidance and assistance to inbound individuals in relation to consulate and visa processing and immigration strategies. I assisted with interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations to address and solve immigration issues, as required. I assisted prepared immigration applications for individuals seeking permission to study and work in Canada. I have gained significant experience communicating with corporate clients, government officials, and foreign missions; drafting and reviewing legal documents and reports; gathering, researching, analyzing, and compiling processes and requirements on study permits, work permits, and temporary resident visa applications. Prior to working in the private sector, I worked for the Ontario government and the Canadian federal government as a bilingual inquiry officer and program analyst. I also interned as a legal assistant for DeKalb Country Public Defender and worked as a teacher in Atlanta, USA. I am fluent in English, Spanish and French, and Portuguese.
