About Meredith Clarke

Words are my favourite things. They’re what set us apart from every other animal on Earth. They’ve enabled us to work together, share experiences, and create the world as we know it. My fascination with words began as a child when I taught myself to read using a read-aloud illustrated Pocahontas book. I’d push the buttons on each page again and again until the voice I heard started to match the black squiggles on the page. Nights were spent under my blanket with a flashlight, “Just one more chapter,” chapter after chapter. Notebooks filled up with my teenage wisdom, and the draft of a memoir appeared on my computer just for fun while I pored over my essays for school, hungry for my English teachers’ nods and smiles. It naturally followed that I studied Literature at Ithaca College in New York State where I developed a fondness for Post-Colonial studies and stories about the world outside my small-town experience. My passion for language and love of the world took me to Vietnam where I taught English in Ho Chi Minh City for a year, then to beautiful Prague, Czech Republic to do the same. After a total of 10+ years of teaching and tutoring, I decided I wanted a new challenge. I am now a Support Content Writer for Riverside.fm-or as I like to call myself, a "podcasting librarian"-where I maintain our internal knowledge base and provide hands-on trainings to our Support Team. So long as I’m using words to share my passions—and maybe spark a love of words in some unsuspecting reader—I feel I’m doing my part in making the world a brighter place.
