About Meredith King

Not many people make a connection between working in an aquarium and therapy, but I am here to bridge the gap. I want to use my behavioral analysis skills and passion to help clients learn how to balance life and acceptance. I am an experienced Herpetological zookeeper for the past 5 years where I worked with dangerous reptiles such as Komodo dragons, Tomistoma, and venomous snakes. I have advanced technical skills as well as interpersonal skills, working in a team environment to build comradery and communication. I am skilled at behavior analysis and maintaining mental and physical welfare based on the findings. I use empathy daily in and out of work, and I am passionate about helping those who cannot help themselves. I like working with animals and people, and I am always learning at every opportunity. I volunteer with NAMI Coastal Virginia and feel very passionate about helping those in my community. I am on the board of the Jail Outreach subcommittee, a group dedicated to improving mental health conditions for jail populations. I also am a speaker for End the Silence, where I give my personal experience with mental health challenges to youth to end the stigma behind mental illness.
