About Meredith Liss

I’m passionate about nutrition and fitness, committed to healthy living and proudly completed 5 half-marathons. I believe in the Whole Foods Plant Based diet and obtained a certificate of training from the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy. My first position after completing my dietetic internship was providing nutrition services to patients living with AIDS at a long-term care facility. This was during the height of the epidemic and prior to availability of life-saving medication. I learned a lot about life and death, discrimination and humanity. I continued my work in the fight against HIV/AIDS at my current position at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. I’ve been fortunate to witness the shift in HIV/AIDS from a life-threatening disease to a chronic illness, with efforts being made by UNAIDS to end the epidemic by 2030. I've developed a diverse skill set in my full time position which has paved the way for private consulting opportunities and developing my private nutrition practice. My areas of specialization include wellness, weight management, pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary health and vegetarian nutrition. I consider myself an eternal student, always growing. I have an innate ability to connect and communicate with others. My authenticity, rapport-building skills and compassion are my biggest strengths. After 25 years of providing direct clinical care, I am interested in leveraging my extensive clinical expertise in nutrition, diabetes education and wellness into a non-clinical role within the health care industry.
