About Meredith Patton

My personal nursing philosophy is based upon holistic practice- caring for the whole person. I believe in the importance of health care along the entire mind-body continuum. I strive to provide compassionate, thoughtful, culturally sensitive care to all of my clients. Through advocacy and teaching, I hope to inspire and empower my clients to make positive changes in their health and well-being. To me, nursing is so much more than just providing care to those who are sick and/or vulnerable. To me, nursing is both an art and a science. It is the ability to combine scientific knowledge and clinical skills with a respect for and understanding of the human condition. It is the ability to create a team that works toward the common goals of health and well being. It is holding the hand of the mother who is dying of cancer, it is preserving the dignity of an elder, it is offering support and education to the new young mother and it is ensuring equal access to health care services. Nursing is all of these things, and so much more. What I love the most about my current position is knowing that my assessment and critical thinking skills help keep our clients OUT of the hospital. I am passionate about hospice and palliative care, and believe in the unique hope, dignity and comfort that our patients and their families need and deserve when faced with serious illness.
