Background

About Merga Regassa

I have over 17 years of experience in project management and execution of water supply and sanitation infrastructure, higher education research, and teaching. Similarly, in water scheme implementation and design skills, multi-village piped water supply systems, and sanitation facility building projects. I graduated with a BSc degree in Civil Engineering and MSc. degree in Environmental Health Science Technology specializing in Environmental technology. Besides, currently, I am a candidate for a Ph.D. program in Water Management specializing in Water Technologist/Engineering. I acquired an honorable understanding of research areas in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Health Science, and Environmental technologies. I have good coordination of the Water and Sanitation Sector Platform from the national to community levels. Over the last ten years, I have gained fundamental experience integrating WASH into health, nutrition, food security, Energy, Agriculture, and climate resilience efforts through effective grant administration. During my tenure, I managed about 56 million USD in grants from humanitarian and development funds, both directly and indirectly. Similarly, in my supervision, more than 125 staff supervised, 84 projects managed, and handed over to the users. In capacity development, I am also engaged in 12 national, 9 Refugee Camps, and 7 regional Directives, Guidelines, Manuals, Road maps, Policies, Strategies, and proclamations, and trained more than 1500 trainers. In my professional career, I have sounded technical as well as management skills in water supply and sanitation facilities, project management, higher education research, and teaching experience. In addition, I have reputational experience in the implementation and proposal development of emergency WASH and resilience humanitarian with budget management. Based on my experience, I am currently establishing the Ethiopian WASH Association in collaboration with a colleague. I am the founder and acting board director of this association. The major goal of this association is to assist the WASH sectors, who work directly and indirectly in academia, the private sector, government, and development partners, WaSH by integrating the expertise they must meet Ethiopia's national strategy and SGD comment in water and sanitation.
