About Meri Jalonen

I am a scholar of work and organising whose research aims to promote the development of sustainable practices of production and consumption. In my current job, I collaborate with SMEs and other organisations to support their efforts to develop sustainable business. My postdoc research focused on experiments and explored how they may serve as vehicles of innovation in sustainability transitions. I studied experiments in public administration, consumption practices and mobility practices, which concerned robotic process automation, worker-driven innovation, robot buses and smart cities. My PhD explored innovation practices in the packaging industry. It challenges our understanding of innovation by demonstrating the interdependency between the development of products, production technology and production practices over the course of the innovation process. I have over a decade of experience of research collaboration with the industry - especially manufacturing companies - and public organisations.
