About Merida Johns

My current mission: Motivational books and textbooks give frameworks, theories, and ideas, but they don't immerse us in the human experience. They don't show us how others face challenges, embrace their passions, overcome sorrow, celebrate achievement, quash self-doubts, develop positive emotions and relationships, handle betrayal, or act on aspirations. I started writing fiction so that I could share the concepts of a flourishing life through stories about the human experience showing how ordinary people tackle challenges, act on their aspirations and achieve flourishing lives. I hope that my stories are learning lessons where awareness, curiosity, and imagination transport readers to the most unexpected places within themselves. Dr. Johns is a proven leader, organizational visionary and change agent. She contributes her talents to furthering gender diversity in leadership roles in public, private, and non-profit sectors including healthcare, academia, government, and professional and community organizations. Dr, Johns' passion is helping women fulfill their leadership and economic potential and helping companies to leverage their talent pool by increasing gender diversity in leadership positions. Studies demonstrate that women in leadership positions greater than token proportions improve company decision making and financial performance. Even so, women still remain underrepresented in top positions and gender differences exist in compensation and the types of top leadership positions that women attain. The Monarch Center helps women inspire and influence others. The Center achieves its mission through dynamic and innovative retreats, symposia, and workshops, personal coaching, and a collaborative learning community and a network of women leaders.
