About Merrilee Witherell
I am a school librarianand former non-profit executive who is passionate about both education, social justice and the environment. As a K - 12 librarian, I manage two libraries for approximately students. Prior to becoming a librarian, I worked as a non-profit executive director in the fields of civil rights and civil liberties. My volunteer activities include having served on the board of the National Fair Housing Alliance, and on the New York State Advisory Committee of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. I have also served as a trustee of the Stewart B. Lang Public Library in Cato, NY and the Finger Lakes Library System in Ithaca, NY. I like my work to be meaningful, impactful and intellectually challenging. My interests include reading, hiking, pottery, kayaking and New England travel.
