About Mervyn Murphy

Hooked on sport from an early age and followed the dream, first as a professional rugby player and then onwards to a 20 year period as Lead Performance Analyst for the Ireland National Rugby Team. Privileged to have been part of the 'Golden Era' of Irish Rugby having achieved 2 Grand Slams, 5 Championships & 5 Triple Crowns. Also a member of the Ireland Team management across 5 Rugby World Cup campaigns. Served under 6 highly decorated Head Coaches over this period and worked with some of the best players to have ever played the game. Currently working on an exciting new challenge, identifying & developing young talent at Connacht Rugby in Ireland, in the hope that they too can also go on to become elite players. At the core of Performance Analysis is the athlete and my emphasis has always been on making the athlete a better player by giving them the technical feedback & emotional support they need to achieve and flourish within their Team. Somewhere in those early years, I also qualified from university with a Batchelor of Commerce (Hons) degree with French. Being involved in Elite level sport has taught me some of the most valuable lessons in life through times of exhilarating success & brutal failure.
