About Metin Esen

Metin Esen is an Academic Skills Tutor at Arden University Berlin. He holds an MA in Curriculum and Instruction at Bilkent University, Ankara, and a DELTA Level 7 Diploma and CELTA trainer certificate from Cambridge University Press & Assessment. He is currently doing a PhD in English Language Teaching at Middle East Technical University, Ankara. Having taught academic English in the Turkish higher education context for many years, his focus is now more on academic writing in a broader perspective, working with a diverse student profile in Berlin. As an active member of the worldwide English Language Teaching community, he also likes to volunteer for local and international associations. He is currently acting as a member of the Conference Organisation Committee for the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL). He has published work on various topics that include in-service teacher education, intercultural communication, and learner autonomy. His interests include, but are not limited to, teaching English as a foreign language, English for academic purposes, professional development, teacher training, advising in language learning, learner autonomy, teacher autonomy, and technology in language education.
