About Meyer Conradie

My passion for orphan care and my fascination with numbers collided when I did my Master’s degree thesis on the impact of different orphan care models. Realizing that orphan care organisations can be exponentially more efficient if they use data to inform their decision making, I (with an amazing team) developed Wellbi.io, monitoring & evaluation software built for orphan & vulnerable child-care organisations. This passion project has become a business in its own right. But long before Wellbi.io happened my passion for orphan care was ignited when my wife and I were still young and naïve, and she was working on a research paper, when she came to me, devastated about the massive number of orphans in South Africa! In that conversation we realized that THIS is what we want to do with our lives. Orphan care. So, we started Mosaic that year (2009). At Mosaic we believe that orphans should grow up in families, and we believe that organisations like ours should only assist these families and not take over their job of raising children. More than a decade after starting this crazy adventure we are surrounded by amazing people from South Africa, the US, Germany and Sweden who are all just as passionate as we are about the families we serve through Mosaic! During the remainder of my waking hours I play Lego with my 2 boys, listen to my daughter playing piano and do date nights with my wife! We love having friends over after church on Sundays and we can plan an impulsive road trip in 30 minutes. In both my personal and professional life, I love to not just talk about stuff, but rather DO stuff, and I love it even more if I can take people with me to DO that stuff!
