About Mia Beyer

My strongest motivations are to help educate people to make responsible and sustainable choices and to work for a company with whom I share the same values: sustainability, education, health, integrity, inclusivity, transparency, altruism, compassion, equality, and more. In my free time, I love to play with my three dogs and four cats, cook plant-based meals for my parents, listen to audiobooks, teach people about sustainability, and take photos of landscapes and animals. During the spring and summer, I especially love gardening and growing fresh vegetables to share with my friends and family. In May of 2022, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability Studies at Colorado Mountain College, and I am eager to implement the knowledge and skills I have acquired to begin making a real impact on the Earth and all its inhabitants. I have more than ten years of experience in the food service industry where I became an expert at efficiently and quickly satisfying customer requests, multitasking, working synergistically with team members, setting up incoming shift team members for success, maintaining the cleanliness of the workspace, and contributing to the company’s success as a whole. I regularly received customer compliments and manager appreciation in the form of $5 gift cards and patches to wear that signified my hard work. Most recently, I was the Sustainability Coordinator for East West Family of Companies. The family of companies includes East West Partners, East West Hospitality, and Slifer Smith and Frampton. During my time there I navigated how to build a sustainability framework tailored to the specific needs of the different operations. I created employee surveys to help identify areas of opportunity to inform and prioritize sustainability goals. Established Green Teams and provided them with guidance and educational tools including a Sustainability Action Plan Guide, How to Divert Waste Guide, Sustainable Behaviors Guide, etc. Researched sustainable apparel to demonstrate responsible purchasing and procured a corporate discount with STIO. Helped The Westin Riverfront Hotel & Spa adopt Proud Source aluminum water bottles in place of plastic water bottles. Coordinated an annual highway cleanup and zero-waste events. Attended Climate Action Collaborative meetings.
