About Mia Ferguson

Leaning into DevOps, site reliability engineering, and compliance, I strive to promote a culture of warmth, curiosity, and intentionality in organizations. With an emphasis on security, I support end-to-end pipelines and organization-wide strategy. I've worked in platform + engineering, site reliability engineering, release management, IT, and in movement building and organizing. My priority and purpose is equity and sustainability. I believe that in all our work we can pursue anti-racism, but that much of our work is fundamentally racist. Tech thrives on stolen land and wealth, what do we want to do with our resources? How can we relieve the planet of humanity's violence? My approach, informed by my background in anthropology, highlights the importance of intentional collaboration and self liberation for successful development operations, happier teams, and stable products. I enjoy transparent and reasonable strategy (where reason is collaboratively explored or entrusted to the expertise of team members). I feel my nerdiest when asking questions and surfacing info about consciousness and collaboration: what helps you balance? how are you supported amidst change? what helps you stay in flow state? when are you truthfully motivated to work? I love helping people find tools and share experiences to enable their best work and most desired impact in the world: what technologies exist that can help you work happier; what practices help you find peace at work; what helps you strive towards equity; how do you reconcile your place in industries with power that further systemic inequalities; what frameworks help you stay focused?
