About Mia Lindgren

A globally recognized authority in podcast, radio and journalism studies with positions on several editorial boards and scientific committees. Adjunct Professor at RMIT University and University of Tasmania in Australia. Extensive leadership experience in Higher Education at multiple Australian universities: Founding Head of School of Media Film and Journalism at Monash University, Dean of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education at Swinburne University of Technology and Associate Dean Research in the College of Arts, Law and Education at University of Tasmania. Demonstrated effective and human-centred leadership in complex organisations, during periods of disruption, e.g. major restructuring, down-sizing and extended COVID lockdowns. Champion of innovation in research excellence and learning & teaching. Advocate for humanities, arts and social sciences (HASS) and passionate for the power of collaboration and mentorship. Practice-led research developed through podcasts, documentaries, and websites created in partnership with academics, media organisations, and audio producers. Secured competitive national grants for work on audio storytelling for sense-making in public health issues. Co-editor (with Jason Loviglio) Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast and Audio Media (Intellect) and Routledge Companion to Radio and Podcast Studies (2022). Co-Chair of IAMCR’s Working Group Music, Audio, Radio and Sound.
