About Mia Maillet

As a self-motivated, dedicated, and disciplined professional, I am keen to share my knowledge and experience when collaborating with various service provider agencies, governmental sectors and the community. My professional experience in community health and social services programming dates back to 2008 and involved a wide range of community development projects, direct service delivery and client support services. That along with a wide variety of other experience working in the federal prison system, the mental health sector, youth mental health court, youth residential services, child protection, the developmental disability sector, employment services and the education system has given me the skills and qualifications perfectly suited for a number of roles. Over the years, I have learned important skills like designing and implementing youth and adult programming, case management, crisis intervention, and navigating the justice system. In addition, I have worked with a variety of individuals and clients who have been involved in the criminal justice system, who have had issues with alcohol and substance abuse, and who have been faced with poverty, isolation, lack of mobility, difficulty accessing programs and services, physical and social isolation and lack of housing. Meeting my clients' needs is a driving force behind my motivation. This is done through effective communication, adapting to different demands or shifting priorities, as well as balancing clients' needs within any given agency vision and mandate. I have also developed and delivered many presentations, training workshops, orientations, and information sessions to a variety of audiences. I constructively use my openness and flexibility to adapt to each challenge or work style. From my perspective, it is of utmost importance to communicate and consult with colleagues and clients, to ensure and achieve common goals and outcomes.
