About Michael Aberton

Mick is a highly qualified ecologist and environmental scientist with over 20 years’ experience in research and consulting for government, infrastructure and natural resources clients. He is a BAM accredited assessor and has performed BAM assessments for multiple Solar Farms, Battery Storage Facilities, Councils and private landholders. Since joining Water Technology in August 2021, Mick has carried on with large scale Solar Farms and lead teams of ecologists in both BAM assessments and targeted species surveys for various flora and fauna adjacent to the Goulburn River National Park, Tamworth and Armidale. At Water Technology, Mick prides himself on providing a quality product at an affordable price fit for our client's needs. Recent waterway and wetland projects include Coffs Harbour estuary weed mapping, Melbourne Water Condition Assessments and Works Monitoring Programs and the mapping of threatened flora species within the Barmah Forest. Through his experience with engineering and natural resource companies, Mick has developed Ecological, Planning, Conservation and Environmental Science skills across a range of industries including water, transport, natural resources, land development and renewable energy for private, government and non-government organisations. Mick offers a broad background and understanding in environmental approval processes including those with Federal (EPBC Act State NSW (BC Act 2016), VIC (NVIM/VQA) and local regulations and assisting clients with a pragmatic, impact minimising approach that meets or exceeds regulatory requirements. Mick's a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) and BC Act BAM Accredited Assessor.
