Background
About Michael Anderson
In March of 2019, Big Oyster Brewery was established as the second fastest growing brewery in the United States. In just four years, I helped the brewery to grow from 100 barrels of production in 2015 to an in 2019 and we anticipated another 20% growth in 2020 before Covid-19 struck. We hit our goal and did the same, growing another 20% in 2021. As the director of sales and distribution, I'm responsible for managing, maintaining, and developing relationships with distributors, sales reps, as well as owners and managers of retail accounts while also managing our sales team. We're now producing around bbls per year (2024) and sell beer in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Our beer is also now available for purchase at I began working in the hospitality industry in 2007 while in high school. After graduating from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI, in 2011, I returned to Sussex County, Delaware with a degree in Sports, Entertainment, and Event Management with minors in Sports Management and Psychology. I've used my skills to contribute to the sales and development of our company while contributing to its expansion from two restaurants in 2007 to 7 restaurants and two breweries in 2019 with distribution in three states. I completed two internships throughout my college career, mostly focusing on event management and security management with the Providence Bruins and Comcast-Specator/Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. I have worked with, and contributed to works by, Brian Curtis, New York Times Best Selling Author and former CBS College Sports Writer. My skills and duties as a manager include the maintenance of employees, customers, and other management personnel while handling everyday operations at the restaurant. I have learned many important aspects of managing and owning a restaurant including managing costs, scheduling employees, hiring and training new employees, disciplinary functions, marketing, advertising, as well as continuing my passion for managing events by hosting them within the restaurant. This experience has been invaluable and I hope it continues to build my profile as a manager and continue my growth as a professional within the Hospitality industry.
