About Michael Atkins

Mr Atkins is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia and was a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia until resigning in June 2011. Since 1987 he has been involved with the formation of, and capital raising for, many listed companies on the ASX, both as a Chairman/Director and as a corporate advisor. Mr Atkins has had a successful history as an executive and non-executive chairman and director of listed Australian companies with experience working in many countries including: USA, Canada, Africa (including Botswana, Ghana, Cameroon, Djibouti, Zimbabwe, South Africa) SE Asia (including Indonesia, Malaysia, Sarawak, Thailand, Singapore), China, Europe (including Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, UK). As Managing Director and then NED of Claremont Petroleum NL and Beach Petroleum NL from November 1990 until 1995, he played an important part in the restructure of Beach from the brink of insolvency to emerge into one of Australia’s most successful oil and gas companies with a market capitalization in excess of $3 billion. Mr Atkins was founder and Executive Chairman of Gallery Gold Ltd, responsible for the acquisition and exploration of the Galane gold project in Botswana which was sold to IAMGold and became an operating gold mine at ounces pa. Mr Atkins was Chairman of Westgold Resources Limited where he restructured it from an oil and gas company to a gold explorer acquiring the Rover Gold Project and Central Murchison Gold Project, and the merger of Westgold into MetalsX Limited. Mr Atkins was Chairman of Azumah Resources Limited developing its Wa Gold Project in Ghana, West Africa, with a Reserve over 1 million ounces until taken over by Ibaera Capital in 2019. Mr Atkins was appointed to the Board of Warrego Energy in January 2022 and played an important role in taking the Company through a very successful takeover process which ended in early 2023 with a 150% premium paid by Hancock Energy for 100% takeover. Mr Atkins experience has included the restructuring, development and financing of many successful listed public companies and with many successful liquidity events in the industrial, resource, medical and technology sectors. Mr Atkins is Deputy Chairman of Ariana Resources plc, AIM listed,and non-executive director of SRG Global Limited and Memphasys Limited, both ASX listed companies, and Corporate Consultant to European Metals Holdings Limited (developing largest hard rock lithium project in Europe).
