About Michael Barbaglia

The study of Communication in the workplace has been an interesting subject to learn about during my undergraduate years. Being a member of the communication’s club has helped me learn how to network within an organization and how to properly form various documents used in an office setting. I studied the effects of mass media news on fellow classmates. Using a variety of surveys to conduct this project has required me to network and find participants who fit the scope. Some of my skills involve a knowledge of computer parts and building them, being able to speak clearly and freely in front of large audiences without feeling embarrassed, and being able to become a leader and take charge in group projects when necessary. Some weaknesses to improve upon would be in the networking side the business world. I will be able to reach a larger portion of employers through this linked in process. Communication studies brings together aspects of both social sciences and the humanities. Social science often overlaps with other fields such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, biology, political science, economics, and public policy. My time in the communication studies field at Iowa State has helped me on preparing to ask questions concerning the nature of communication in society and the development of communication as a specific field. Communication fields are used in a variety of businesses and operations. It can help and professionals in any field to refine their critical thinking skills, speaking and writing. A bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies is used to increase understanding of how communication works and to improve your effectiveness in a community or in business. An ideal employer for me would be a calm work environment with necessary gear to access online databases of information. I have conducted mass media research with the use of surveys and have analyzed data for general patterns and outliers.
