About Michael Barley

I'm a Software Engineer specializing in Data Engineering, with 6+ years building production-grade data pipelines and event-driven systems that process millions of events daily. Currently at SalesFire, I design and maintain high-throughput data infrastructure using AWS (Kinesis, Lambda, DynamoDB, ClickHouse) that powers personalized e-commerce experiences for major retailers. My work focuses on real-time stream processing, data modeling for scale, and building resilient microservices that handle massive data volumes. I'm passionate about: • Building scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines • Event-driven architectures and stream processing • Data modeling and optimization for low-latency retrieval • Engineering best practices (TDD, CI/CD, code quality) Tech stack: TypeScript, Node.js, Python, AWS (Kinesis, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, ECS), ClickHouse, Vue.js, Docker, GitHub Actions Always happy to connect with fellow data engineers and discuss all things data infrastructure, streaming systems, and modern data stack.
