About Michael Barth

I've been working in the field of Instrumentation since 1988 having completed my Instrumentation and Control Associate Diploma. At completion of my Diploma I was fortunate to participate in a $40M Control Room and Instrumentation Upgrade project at Shell Refining in Parramatta, Sydney working on hire to Shell. At the completion of the project I moved to Bailey Controls which became Elsag Bailey and was ultimately purchased by ABB. Initially I was in field service before moving to the role of Commissioning Engineer where I worked on several projects to commission DCS's (Distributed Control Systems). Projects include Gladstone Power Station Qld and Mt Piper Power Station NSW, later moving back to Sydney to work on the customer witness test of Esso's West Tuna Platform DCS. My next move was into the sales and marketing team to take the position of Proposals Engineer where I substantially worked on control system tenders. In I left ABB to take up a similar role with MGE UPS Systems who manufactured uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Looking for a new challenge I found myself with Davidson Measurement in to take up the position of Sales Engineer. This position exposed me to a much broader range of instrumentation and applications and was invaluable in building my knowledge and expertise. In 2006, following the acquisition of Davidson Measurement by Biolab, I took up the position of Product Manager where I continue today, fortunate to be able to draw on the many years of industry and application knowledge gained since my apprenticeship to help users solve their application needs.
